i’m like the ringleader

Yes, this post is all about Britney Spears. Get off my shit, bitch is fierce.

As some of you know, today her new record, Circus dropped. I think it’s good and there are a couple of really great songs (in my opinion) like Circus and Phonography but as a whole, I think Blackout was better. Blackout had hit after hit.

On another note, while watching the documentary, Britney: For the Record, I think you can really see how sad she is. It’s like she loves doing what she does but she just doesn’t have the spark anymore. Maybe it’s poor choreography but she isn’t really hitting the dancing like she use to. Or maybe it’s just taking her awhile to get back into the swing of performing. The preview for the Circus video looks insane though. I can’t wait to see it.

(Britney’s performance this morning on Good Morning America)

Whatever it is, I love her and want to go see her when she comes to Chicago in April. I wish I would have know that tickets would go on pre-sale today so I could have budgeted it in but I don’t think I can afford to drop like $250 for a pair of tickets :(

For so many of us, we grew up with Britney. She’s four years older than me and came on the scene when I was 13, so of course I loved her, and still do. But you’re totally right, it’s like that oomph is missing, as though she wants it, badly, but just can’t get the same spark back.

I’m hoping she does, but I love her regardless. I’ll be downloading Circus this evening without a doubt.

She still looks hot but something about her now is just weird.

I saw the part where she was doing some other girls make up…and she was like mumbling and talking weird…

    mental.

I remember when she first become popular when I was in 6th or 7th grade and I loved her!

I know that people have a lot of critical things to say about her (myself included at times) but I can’t imagine what it must have been like to have grown up in the spotlight the way she did. Adjusting under such tremendous pressure at such a young age seems like quite the burden to carry.

I recorded her special on my DVR and will probably watch it tonight. I’m interested because I’ve heard mixed reviews on it so far!

I never was, nor ever will be, a Britney fan, but I am glad that she’s working again.

Okay, I do like that song “Everytime.”

I saw her at the Target Center here in Minne something like 7 years ago and it was such a spectacle. Pyrotechnics, rain, flying, dancing, it was SO entertaining. I’m so glad she’s getting her shiznit together and making a comeback. Hope you find your way to the show!

I find it ironic that we’re in a recession but her management wants us to fork over $128 for good seats/ring-side.

AND they did this RIGHT before Christmas so you KNOW parents are all like, “christmas presents for my baaybaay”

    blah

I think my friend is going to buy us tickets in the nosebleed section which I’m okay with. I just want to see her!

I actually like this CD way better than Blackout– I’m obsessed with the first half of it at least.

I’m not a Britney fan, but I just want to know if I can use “Get off my shit, bitch is fierce” because that line is awesome. I’ll give you full credit of course.

    I will allow Britney to stay around as long as she stays “normal”. As Diana gets closer and closer to teenhood I am planning to take out those that are worthless/slutty/stupid. On my list;

    Miley Cyrus
    Paris Hilton
    Brandon Davis

I agree with the Blackout part, the CD was VERY good. I haven’t had the chance to listen to Circus, but I’m definitely looking forward to it.

I’m actually halfway through writing a review of Circus at the moment!

I’m not really a fan of hers, but considering *who* she is, she usually gets great production (WARNING: I’m about to go major music geek here). I wouldn’t say this is necessarily the case for Circus, but I do like it a whole lot more than Blackout, as it’s less CLUB PUMPING and more… THEATRICAL PUMPING. It’s kind of ironic for me to admit it (I graduated in Digital Music), but I still much prefer sounds that come from instruments, rather than spewed from synths/sequencers. Loving the vocal layering.

Other than that it’s just as repetitive as the other albums, but I’m glad she’s finally pulling herself together. She’s looking a lot better, and acting a lot better. She’s clearly put a lot of work into her performances and the album, and no matter how much someone dislikes her music or craziness, it’s still possible to have a lot of respect for her.

Everytime I see clips of her, I’m just willing for her to blow us away again like she did in the good ol’ days. :)

I liked Blackout and I like what I have heard so far from Circus but agree with your sentiment. She seems lost and like the spark is gone and she’s trying to force it. Anyways I wish you luck getting tixs :)

Have you heard the Bebo Norman song about Britney? It’s a beautiful song, and it reminds me that celebrities are humans too.

I felt so sad for her when I watched the MTV special. There was that part when she broke down and said something like “I’m just so sad…”. I’ll admit, I teared up a bit watching that.

I think she’ll get better the more she performs. Right now I think her lack of spark is due to her lack of confidence. She was torn down and ridiculed for her VMA performance last year (it was pretty bad) and I bet it will take some time to recover from that. I really hope she does well though, I’ve always liked her.

I actually loved nearly every song on Blackout. Which is why I’m avoiding Circus like well, I’d avoid the Circus (GROSS!). It’s like wanting to remember a dead relative at their finest.

I think she was rushed to put out the album and she still has not got herself all together. It takes time to recover from a mental breakdown. She needed at least a year, IMO, to chill out and get therapy before she bounced back into her career.

I LOVE Britney!!! For the Record was so good and it gave a great insight into her life. It was so sad when she said her life was too in control and she started crying. I’m buying tickets to her concert this week and I cannot wait!

I have to ditto Pam and say that I too teared up a bit where she just paused and said “I’m sad.” She said it with such a heaviness.. watching that documentary made me feel so sad FOR her.

I feel like the goofy, kiddish behavior is somewhat of a coping mechanism, and it’s almost painfully obvious that she’s covering up the sadness.

Poor Brit. But I’m excited for her new album – I’m buying it for myself as an early Christmas gift – and I’m hoping she’ll get back into the swing of things.

I’m on the fence about this topic. Love Brit as a performer and entertainer, but dislike the Britney Franchise. Unlike most people, I’m not Oh Poor Britney right now. Yes, it’s awful that she went through that roller coaster of a break down, and that she had to do it in public and she’s unhappy now, but you have to give up so much when you become a celebrity. This is cruel, and maybe I should keep my thoughts to myself, but she’s brought herself to where she is now by her own decisions.

I hate to be the voice of dissent. Just sharing my opinion. Like I said, I do love the music for dancing!

I watched her doc on MTV last night and thought she does look so sad and lonely. Then I felt really bad for her because she is so young and can’t even do something simple like grocery shopping without getting mobbed by photographers and fans. No wonder she lost it. Any normal person would.

I hope she can make a comeback, especially since Womanizer is just so damn catchy!

I have so much love for Brit but she came on “X-Factor” over here last week and was a bit of a disappointment. Although I hate to say it. Her performance wasn’t fabulous (although better than the notorious VMA “Gimme More” performance”) but like you say, it’s like she’s lost the spark that made her so good before. Apparently she acted like a total diva too. I hate the thought of her being like that! :(

I just listened to her new album yesterday, a couple times! I love britney, I have always been a fan and thought she is really pretty…She’s an icon! My mom even took me to see her concert in high school, we flew to vegas! haha. I felt so sad for her when she was going through all the drama.

I would agree with you that she has lost her ‘spark’ – it’s sad bear for sure. but I’ll always be a fan.

anyways.. If I win the lottery, I’ll buy us britney tickets and we’ll go ;)

These are my unprofessional and untrained observations of Britney:

    1. She has been sad all of her life. What we are calling “normal” or “comeback” is just her pretending. You could see it in her eyes and her expressions long ago. I think she loves to sing and dance but the rest is just too much for her. Now, I think she might not even want to sing and dance but doesn’t know what else to do.

    2. She can no longer dance. It started with last year’s VMAs but I just thought it was because she was medicated or something. BUt I have watched every peformance recently and she just walks around and then moves her upper body. It is like she is scared she is going to fall all the time so she doesnt dance at all. Makes me realize just how much she moved before.

I hope she finds her way.

So basically (since I’m obvi best friends with Britney. Just kidding, this is just my opinion, but…) she has definitely lost her spark. It’s not her choreography…she’s just not up to par anymore. It might be her just growing up and finding it really hard to keep on top of the game. There are always newer, younger, more hungry people ready to take your spot. It’s harder to be #1 and stay there than to work your way to the top. I’m saying this cause I feel like this is something I’m going through, myself, right now. Not to brag, but I was a pretty good dancer not too long ago (I even danced with some of Britney’s dancers), but all of the sudden, one day I woke up and all the competition to be the best really wore me thin. I don’t love dance any less, but my ability has taken a hit and I’ve backed away because it became something new to me…no longer a competition to be the best, no longer a way to showcase my abilities, but really a mentally freeing thing and way to express myself and relieve stress. I feel like she is going through something so similar. In my experience, I’ve lost a lot of my confidence…with Britney, you can see it CLEARLY in her face that she has lost hers, too. I doesn’t make me love her any less, I just see now that she not perfect…she’s human. She’s just growing up and experiencing new things…and I’m just glad that it seems like she back on the right path. I was so happy with “For The Record.” I think they portrayed her the best way they could…by being truthful and not trying to cover anything up. I just hope everyone has a better understanding, now, of who and why she is the way she is.

Ok, I just wrote the longest comment ever…you can tell I’m passionate about my Britney Spears.

PS…I wanna see her in concert, too! So bad.
